The June issue of the journal The Ophthalmologist publishes the names of those researchers who have published the highest number of articles on keratoconus. Prof. Jorge Alio tops the list of the most prolific authors, according to the analysis of all articles published in scientific journals in the last five years.
Keratoconus is a disorder of the cornea, which manifests itself in the progressive thinning of its central part, which causes the cornea to adopt the cone shape that gives name to this condition.
The magazine notes that the causes of keratoconus are not clear, although it seems a number of genetic and environmental factors may be involved.
