Dr. Alio, an expert in diseases of the anterior segment of the eye, attended the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Ophthalmic Surgery.
His publication ‘Text and Atlas on Corneal Pigmentation’, is the first work in the world devoted to corneal (or kerato) pigmentation.
Dr. Jorge Alio attended the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Ophthalmic Surgery, which was held from 1st to 3rd February in Yokohama. Being the creator of the keratopigmentation techniques for eye colour changes for cosmetic or therapeutic purposes, Dr. Alio, the professor of Ophthalmology at the Miguel Hernandez University (UMH) of Elche, presented his exclusive method at this congress under the title ‘Decorating the eye: the amazing techniques of keratopigmentation’. It should be reminded that Dr. Jorge Alio entered the ‘Forbes’ list of the 100 best doctors in Spain, being one of the six Spanish ophthalmologists. Moreover, he is the author of ‘Text and Atlas on Corneal Pigmentation’, the first book in the world devoted to keratopigmentation and directed to eye care specialists.
Alio, the scientific director of the ophthalmological clinic Vissum, spoke of the advantages and the disadvantages of SMILE lenses and shared his knowledge with other professionals such as Shigeru Kinoshita, professor and president of Ophthalmology department at the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. Both experts in stem cell research had the opportunity to exchange experiences in this field.
